Obadiah Behgangthwup was the dog everyone loved to kick. Though raised on the meager scraps of his more talented and handsome siblings, he had an unnatural ability to gain weight. By the age of 10, he was easily twice the size of his peers, with beady eyes, a tumorous nose, and cheeks that were ever-threatening to engulf every feature of his face. He was a natural target for the disgust and mistreatment of all in the village of ShightShod. And into this pathetic vessel they poured their hatred, malice, and bile. Obadiah’s soul soured. If not for the intervention of Ohrnash, arcanist of Fallcrest, Obadiah would have been just another nameless creature consumed by the darkness of the world.
Ohrnash was an unlikely half-orc wizard, never fully trusted or accepted into the daily life of the folk of ShightShod. Seeing past Obadiah’s misshapen form, he recognized in the young human a superior intellect and the deep wisdom needed for the study of magic and the arcane. Ohrnash had found the apprentice he’d been looking for and Obadiah gladly left behind the life he’d known. With magic, Obadiah found he was no longer bound by the limitations of his physical body. Through his intellect alone he could exert control over the world around him. He reveled in each new technique, delved deep into his mind, and never looked back on his life as the village cur. His path was set. His journey had begun. But first, Obadiah needed a taco.
